VOLUNTEER VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
The Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA) is a regulatory body established under the Fertilizer Act No. 9 of 2009 of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, and it officially commenced operations in May 2012. The Authority is mandated to regulate the manufacturing, importation, distribution, marketing, and proper use of fertilizers to ensure quality standards, protect stakeholders’ interests, and promote sustainable agricultural productivity in the country.
As part of its commitment to supporting professional development and equipping young graduates with practical workplace experience, TFRA invites qualified, competent, motivated, and dynamic Tanzanian graduates to apply for volunteering opportunities in the following position: -
- Legal Services Officer II (1 Position).
Duties and Responsibilities
- To compile evidence relevant to court cases involving the Authority;
- To assist in taking charge of documents and correspondence of already assigned cases;
- To assist in dealing with legal routine correspondence addressed to the Authority;
- To assist in administering compliance with the terms of agreements and contracts;
- To assist in the preparation of witnesses for attending Court Cases;
- To compile a list of amended legislation, regulations, and rules;
- To maintain an updated database of court decisions.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
A holder of a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) from any recognized University/Institution who attended the Law School of Tanzania.
- Human Resource Officer II (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities.
- To assist in drafting Human Resources Policies and procedures.
- To participate in staff appointments, promotions, and allocation.
- To administer staff, leave, and remuneration schemes
- To facilitate the processing of claims of pension and terminal benefits for staff.
- To collect, analyze, and tabulate personnel statistics and records.
- To coordinate industrial relations issues of staff.
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Holder of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Commerce, or Business Administration, majoring in Human Resource Management, Manpower Planning, or an equivalent qualification from recognized institutions.
- Laboratory Scientist II (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities
- To organise and supervise the analysis of fertilizers and supplements
- To assist in research and development as well as consultancy activities.
- To plan and supervise maintenance of laboratory/Plant/workshop and other forms of facilities.
- To guide technicians in their daily activities.
- To ensure effective and efficient operation of equipment and other facilities
- To ensure the safety of users of laboratory/Plant/workshop, and other forms of facilities.
- To ensure safe disposal of wastes in the laboratory;
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.
- Laboratory Technician II (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To participate in conducting laboratory tests on fertilizer products and keeping proper records of results;
- To maintain a safe chemical storage/handling/disposal system in accordance with current regulations;
- To maintain an inventory of laboratory equipment;
- To operate and maintain laboratory equipment;
- To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor
Requirements:
Holder of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualifications from any recognized University/Institution.
- Working Station:
Successful candidates will be stationed at TFRA Headquarters, Dar es Salaam.
- General Conditions for Applicants
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years;
- Applicants must have two guarantors who are Public Servants;
- Applicants must not have been previously employed in any Public Institution since graduation.
- Applicants must attach an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) with reliable contacts, including postal address, email address, and telephone numbers.
- Applicants should indicate three reputable referees, one of whom must be from the academic institution where the applicant graduated.
- The volunteering programme shall be for a period of one (1) year, renewable depending on the Authority’s needs and the volunteer’s performance.
- Applicants must attach certified copies of the following certificates:
Degree Certificate and Academic Transcripts;
Diploma;
Form IV and/or Form VI National Examination Certificates; and
Birth Certificate or National Identification Card (NIDA).
- Certificates issued by foreign examination bodies or institutions must be verified by the relevant authorities, such as TCU, NACTVET, or NECTA.
- Applicants must attach a letter of endorsement from the Local Government Chairperson or Executive Officer confirming their place of residence.
- Applicants must attach a brief statement explaining the reasons for applying for the volunteering opportunity and their expectations after the volunteering period.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
- Successful and accepted volunteers shall not be paid salaries or any remuneration attached to salaries; instead, they will be assisted with some amount of money to cover transport and lunch expenses
- The volunteering opportunity shall not guarantee employment at TFRA. In the event of employment opportunities arising at TFRA or elsewhere, volunteers will be required to follow the prescribed recruitment procedures.
- Applicants must clearly indicate the position applied for in their application letter.
- All application letters must be handwritten in English or the Swahili language.
